Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come. - 1 Timothy 4:8
For any of you who know me, you know a large portion of my free time is claimed by my clients' training and nutrition, my personal training and nutrition, and studying training and nutrition. These things are certainly important to myself as well as to those of you who sign up to be members of Treadaway Training; however, if we lack character, what good does being strong and lean do us? Being shredded doesn't amount to much if you're a jerk.
Proper nutrition and exercise will certainly improve our quality of life as well as extend our lives but regardless of how fit and healthy we are, we won't live forever. We have to think about the long term. After all, eternity is much longer than the amount of time we will spend here on this earth. We must also spend time improving our walk with Christ.
I understand that not all of you who follow Treadaway Training are Christians but that doesn't mean you can't still work on your character. When you die, no one will remember how much you bench pressed or if you had 20 inch arms; however, people will remember your character. People will remember when you went out of your way to help others. People will remember your selflessness. People will remember the lives you changed. People will remember the impact you made on those around you.
There are two communities that I identify most closely with. Those are the Church community and the gym community. Unfortunately, both of those communities have lots of jerks who misrepresent the community as a whole. There are many people out there who view both of these communities as being filled with rude people who only care about themselves. I aim to change that.
I firmly believe we were all put on this earth at a specific time, for a specific reason. "Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20
Thanks for reading! Don't forget to leave a comment if you have any questions and share on social media. I know this was a little different than what I usually post. I do plan to keep the blog focused on training and nutrition but going forward, I do want to occasionally sprinkle in some character building as well. As always, God bless you AND your family and I'll see you in the next article.
