Does this sound familiar?

You starve yourself, avoid foods you love, work out 5 days per week, and spend hours on the treadmill. You lose weight for a month or so. You burn out because you’re tired of killing yourself. You gain the weight back. You start all over again.

It doesn’t have to be this way. You can lose weight without doing any of those things.

Tiffany had been trying to lose weight for three years. She would try something restrictive like keto, lose a little weight, feel drained, quit, and regain the weight back.

When we started working together, I:

👉Gave her 4 short weight lifting workouts plus a small amount of cardio.

👉Gave her a Calorie target. (We eventually added a protein target and fiber target.)

👉Specifically told her not to avoid her favorite foods.

She was able to lose almost 5 inches off her waist while not dieting as hard or spending as much time in the gym.

How is this possible?

Simple.

Cardio does burn Calories while you’re doing it BUT it tires your body out, which makes you subconsciously less active the rest of the day, burning fewer Calories the rest of the day. This means you aren’t burning as many extra Calories as you think by doing cardio.

Plus, if you’re only doing cardio while dieting, you’ll lose lean body mass, which slows your metabolism, making it harder and harder to lose weight.

Lifting weights doesn’t burn as many Calories immediately but it does build lean body mass, which speeds up your metabolism. The more lean body mass you have, the faster your metabolism is so you’re burning more Calories 24/7.

How could she eat what she wanted and still lose weight?

As it turns out, the specific foods you eat aren’t nearly as important as the internet would have you believe.

If you have 2000 Calories per day consisting MOSTLY of healthy foods like lean meats, fruits, veggies, etc, plus having some treats thrown in, your results will be no different than if you had 2000 Calories per day consisting of ONLY healthy foods with NO treats.

The only difference is if you’re avoiding foods you love, you’ll eventually feel deprived and quit.

Don’t overcomplicate weight loss.

1️⃣ Control your Calorie intake (without eliminating foods)

2️⃣ Lift weights

3️⃣ Eat plenty of protein.
